Lately I’ve been taking you behind the scenes at the mill to show you our AW17 collection in the making. Today I’m putting one product in particular in the spotlight – the star beanie. It’s new for AW17 and I couldn’t be more excited about this design and the colours ways we’re running it in for our website and also some exclusive colours we’re doing for stockists.

It all starts with the beanie being knitted on one of our Shima machines, and then all pieces are inspected to check they haven’t snapped or there aren’t any holes.

Next up they are sent through to the finishing room for linking and for the loose ends to be hand sewn up.

Love this detail shot of the linking machine ready to go, you can see how every stitch must be on its own needle. I found this process so hard to master at university while I was studying knitwear design, it takes lots and lots of practice to get good at it. The linking machine then will stitch the fabric together using the same yarn that the garment has been knitted in.

And finally….here is a sneak peek of the finished product from our AW17 look book!!

I hope you enjoyed that little sneak peek behind the scenes, the beanie will launch online later this year. Sign up to our mailing list on our website to stay up to date with products updates and receive exclusive offers.

Thanks for stopping by!
