I was recently lucky enough to take part in UKTI’s GREAT Week in Tokyo Japan. Along with 50 other British companies we flew out to Tokyo and showcased our AW14 & AW15 Collections. I was travelling with my great friend Karen Mabon, and her lovely agent looked after us during our first weekend in Tokyo. Thank you Yuseke!
On our first day we paid a visit to Tokyo’s iconic department store Isetan. It’s a vast store so after a lot of wandering around I was thrilled to stumble across my designs on the 2nd floor! The pieces are exclusive to Isetan and it was wonderful to see how they and merchandised it all and see their vision come to life.
Me, in Isetan, looking a bit over excited!

RS beanies sitting pretty in Isetan
We also visited Kiddyland, La Foret, and Don Quixote… all completely mad and overwhelming stores! A must visit if you’re in Tokyo. Here’s some very “Kawaii” merchandise I picked up in La Foret. The little bear is a compact mirror!!
We ended up getting through rather too many boxes of these delicious chocolate almonds, and of course Pocky sticks (mikado)!! We had some delicious food in Tokyo, despite being vegetarian I ate really well. The best meal I had all week was at The Tokyo American Club , I was very kindly taken to supper by Peter Ackroyd, of The Campaign for Wool and his colleagues.
One evening Karen and I came across these magazines, how brilliant! Every breed imaginable.. Of course,we had to buy some! They are now sitting proudly on my coffee table!
The showcase at the embassy was successful and we were delighted to meet so many buyers and interested parties. Special thanks to Akiko and her team at the embassy for organising such a fantastic event. I, personally, also loved meeting all the other delegates, too many to list here!
